Iron, TIBC & Ferritin Panel: $145
*needs individual labs ordered+venipuncture
This iron test panel measures your iron levels, total iron-binding capacity (TIBC), and ferritin, which help support a number of vital functions in your body. Iron is an important nutrient needed to form hemoglobin, the substance in red blood cells that carries oxygen from your lungs throughout your body for energy. TIBC is a measurement of how well your blood attaches itself to iron to move it around your body. Ferritin is a protein in the blood that contains iron and helps you understand how much iron your body is storing. Left unchecked, abnormal iron levels may lead to certain health issues (eg, anemia, hemochromatosis). If your iron results are higher or lower than normal, you and your healthcare provider can work together to determine the next steps.
This test is right for you if you’re experiencing any of the following signs or symptoms:
Iron deficiency (low levels of iron):
- Pounding sound in ears
- Pale or yellow skin color
- Restless legs syndrome (RLS)
- An intense craving to chew and eat ice, eat non-food items, or both (pica)
- Pale or sore tongue
- Depression
- Frequent infections
- Apathy
- Sluggishness
- Hair loss
- Spoon-shaped or brittle nails
- Extreme fatigue
- Weakness
- Lack of energy
- Headaches
- Foggy thinking
- Poor memory
- Dizziness
- Lightheadedness
- Fainting
- Heart flutters
- Shortness of breath
- Cold hands or feet
- Chest pain
- Rapid heartbeat
Iron overload (high levels of iron):
- Elevated liver enzymes
- Joint pain
- Abdominal pain
- High blood sugar levels or diabetes
- Darkening of the skin
- Weakness
- Loss of sex drive
- Impotence
- Heart failure
- Depression
- Extreme fatigue
- Pain in the knuckles of your pointer and middle finger (“iron fist”)
- Chronic fatigue
- Memory fog
- Heart flutters
- Irregular heartbeat
In many cases, the earliest signs or symptoms of abnormal iron levels may go unnoticed or be dismissed as tiredness, weakness, and poor concentration. Without treatment, symptoms of an iron imbalance may worsen as the condition progresses, potentially affecting your overall quality of life.
How to Prepare:
Morning sample collection is preferred. Fasting (not eating or drinking anything except water) for 8-12 hours is required.
What’s Included:
- CBC c diff,
- Ferritin
- TIBC
- B12
EBV AB Panel $140
*needs individual labs ordered+venipuncture
Clinical Significance
Epstein-Barr Virus Antibody Panel – Primary infection by EBV causes infectious mononucleosis, usually a self-limiting disease in children and young adults. Infection with EBV can cause lymphoproliferative disorders including tumors. VCA-IgM is typically detectable at clinical presentation, then declines to undetectable levels within a month in young children and within 3 months in other individuals. VCA-IgG is typically detectable at clinical presentation, and persists for life. EBNA IgG typically appears during convalescence (3-4 months after clinical presentation) and remains detectable for life.
Includes:
- Epstein-Barr Virus VCA Antibody (IgM)
- Epstein-Barr Virus VCA Antibody (IgG)
- Epstein-Barr Virus Nuclear Antigen (EBNA) Antibody (IgG)
Test Price
- EBV AB Panel (6421) – $125
- Venipuncture – $15
EBV serologic markers (VCA-IgM, VCA-IgG, ,) reliably distinguish acute infection, reactivation, and past immunity; interpretation guides further management.
An EBV (Epstein–Barr virus) serum test is typically warranted when a patient has persistent, unexplained symptoms suggestive of acute infection, reactivation, or a post-viral syndrome—especially when routine labs are unrevealing.
Common Symptoms That Warrant EBV Serum Testing
- Persistent or Unexplained Fatigue
- Fatigue lasting >3–4 weeks
- Disproportionate exhaustion not explained by sleep, stress, anemia, or thyroid disease
- Post-viral fatigue that never fully resolved
- “Crash” after minimal physical or mental exertion
- Recurrent or Prolonged “Mono-like” Symptoms
Especially when classic mononucleosis was never formally diagnosed:- Severe or lingering sore throat
- Swollen lymph nodes (neck, axilla, groin)
- Low-grade fevers
- Body aches or flu-like malaise
- Headaches
- Frequent Infections or Immune Dysregulation
- Recurrent upper respiratory infections
- Poor recovery from common illnesses
- History of COVID or other viral illness followed by prolonged symptoms
- Suspected immune suppression or chronic inflammation
- EBV can remain latent and reactivate during periods of immune stress.
- Unexplained Neurocognitive Symptoms
- Often described by patients as:
- Brain fog
- Poor concentration
- Memory issues
- Mental fatigue
- Word-finding difficulty
- These symptoms are common in EBV reactivation and post-viral syndromes
- Unexplained Musculoskeletal Symptoms
- Generalized muscle aches
- Joint pain without inflammatory arthritis
- Exercise intolerance
- Myalgias without elevated CK
- Autonomic or Systemic Symptoms
- Lightheadedness
- Orthostatic intolerance
- Palpitations
- Temperature dysregulation
- New-onset anxiety or mood changes following illness
- Abnormal or Borderline Labs With No Clear Cause
- EBV testing is often pursued when patients have:
- Elevated inflammatory markers (CRP, ESR)
- Mildly elevated liver enzymes (AST/ALT)
- Lymphocytosis or atypical lymphocytes
- Normal thyroid, iron, and B12 but persistent symptoms
- Suspected EBV Reactivation
Testing is particularly helpful when symptoms worsen during:- Chronic stress
- Sleep deprivation
- Hormonal shifts (postpartum, perimenopause)
- Significant illness or surgery
- Intense physical training
- Weight loss or caloric restriction
- Chronic Conditions Where EBV Is a Known Contributor
EBV testing is often considered in patients with:- Chronic fatigue–like syndromes
- Fibromyalgia-type symptoms
- Post-viral syndromes (including post-COVID)
- Certain autoimmune conditions (as part of a broader workup)
What EBV Serum Testing Typically Includes
A complete EBV panel usually measures:
- VCA IgM – acute or recent infection
- VCA IgG – past exposure EBNA
- IgG – established infection/latency
- Early Antigen (EA) – possible reactivation
This helps distinguish:
- Acute infection
- Past infection (most adults)
- Possible reactivation
Important Patient Education Point
A positive EBV test alone does not mean EBV is causing symptoms.
Results must be interpreted in the context of symptoms, timing, and other labs.
Over 90% of adults have been exposed to EBV—the clinical question is activity, not exposure.
When EBV Testing Is NOT Helpful
- Isolated fatigue with clear alternative explanation
- Asymptomatic patients
- Routine screening without symptoms
- Interpreting results without clinical correlation
Simple Patient Explanation
We check EBV when someone has lingering fatigue, brain fog, or flu-like symptoms that don’t make sense based on routine labs. It helps us see whether a past virus may be contributing to how you’re feeling now.
Thyroid / Endocrine Panel: $130
Noticeable changes in your metabolism (eg, weight, temperature, and energy) may be an indication of abnormal levels of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) in your blood. This thyroid function test measures the TSH levels in your blood to help identify these abnormalities. High TSH levels may indicate an overactive thyroid (ie, hyperthyroidism), while low TSH levels may suggest an underactive thyroid (ie, hypothyroidism). In either case, T4 reflex testing will be performed at no additional cost to help identify a possible thyroid disorder.
The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland in the front of the neck. Thyroid function is controlled by the pituitary gland, which produces TSH and releases it into the bloodstream. TSH stimulates the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormones (T3 and T4). TSH will also tell the body to make or release thyroid hormones. This process determines how quickly your body uses energy, makes proteins, and controls other important functions, such as: body temperature, heart rate, breathing, skin moisture, muscle contraction, weight gain or loss, brain development, cholesterol levels, menstruation, and nervous system function.
Thyroid disorders can affect any system of your body and treatment will depend on the specific thyroid condition. An undiagnosed thyroid disorder may put you at risk for cardiovascular diseases, osteoporosis, infertility, and other serious conditions; most thyroid conditions can be managed with medication.
How to Prepare:
Certain supplements and medications can interfere with your test results. We recommend being off supplements/vitamins for 1 week to ensure accurate results. We recommend taking your medication after your blood is tested, preferably in the morning.
Test Price
- TSH – $35.00
- Thyroid Peroxidase Antibody – $30.00
- Free T3 – $30.00
- Free T4 – $20.00
- Venipuncture – $15
- Total – $130

- Female
- Recent pregnancy
- History of thyroid surgery
- Radiation treatment for past thyroid
- Taking medication high in iodine
- Diagnosed with an autoimmune disease
- You are experiencing signs or symptoms of thyroid disease (see Signs & symptoms section below)

Insurance vs. Cash-Pay Labs: How the Process Works
If you wish to attempt to run labs through insurance, we will provide you with:
- A voided lab requisition listing the ordered tests
- The associated ICD-10 diagnosis codes
We strongly encourage patients to call their insurance company directly with this information to confirm:
- Whether the labs are covered
- How often they are covered
- Your estimated out-of-pocket cost
At the same time, we will also provide you with our transparent cash-pay pricing for the same labs so you can make an informed comparison.

Important Insurance Considerations
Many insurance plans:
- Only cover one round of certain labs per year
- Apply insurance pricing once a test is processed through insurance, even if the cost is significantly higher than cash-pay pricing
Once a lab is submitted through insurance, pricing is fully determined by your insurance carrier, and unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to adjust or reverse those charges afterward. For this reason, verifying coverage each time labs are ordered is essential if you choose to run them through insurance.
Finalizing Your Lab Order
Once you’ve confirmed your preferred option (cash vs insurance bill):
- We will complete the appropriate lab requisition for you to physically take to the lab, or
- We can submit the order electronically, allowing you to visit the lab at your convenience, where the order will already be accessible to their staff
Our goal is to ensure you receive the necessary testing in the most cost-effective and seamless way possible, while maintaining high clinical standards and pricing that makes the most sense for YOU.
If you have questions at any point, our team is happy to walk you through the process.
Where Your Labs Are Drawn
While we can draw blood in-clinic, this is typically reserved for special circumstances, such as:
- Compliance or accessibility issues
- Urgent clinical need
- Situations where convenience is critical, and a provider is available
For the majority of patients, we refer lab draws to Quest or Intermountain Health (IHC) locations.
